SAINT GEORGE DAY

In Saint George's Day people exchange books and roses.

You can find DonQuixote's Cervantes,...

... Shakespeare,...

or Virginia Woolf in the streets.
There are roses everywhere.

YOSHIHIRO TATSUMI

Lately I've been hooked on a comic book from Yoshihiro Tatsumi A drifting life.
The artist uses the character of Hiroshi Katsume to depict the early part of his own career as a manga artist. Through the story of Hiroshi the reader is able to know more about the post WWII Japan, their weakness and the strenght they achieve to overcome one of the most difficult periods in the contemporary history of this country.

I don't know much of manga artists so I had the chance to learn a lot about important manga figures. There are so many manga artists mentioned here. It's been amazing.

These are some pages from the book.

He wants to detach himself from the manga work for children and creates a new concept, a style of manga 'which is not manga': GEKIGA (meaning dramatic image)

The Earth's day

Last weekend it has been held a celebration of the Earth's day here in Barcelona. There's been , street music, veggie food, sun, and fun.

Many of this years' activites were dedicated to Fukushima and the 25th anniversary of Chernobil, against nuclear energy.

Finally, this is a pretty funny video that I recorded there:
