Enrique Vila-Matas is one of my favourite writers. He is able to create from his 'metaliterary' style extraordinary works of novelistic fiction.
And the following video contains a conversation between Vila-Matas and Paul Auster. Fantastic!!
Enrique Vila-Matas is one of my favourite writers. He is able to create from his 'metaliterary' style extraordinary works of novelistic fiction.
His work blends styles, it mixes articles, novels and essays. In most of his works he portays himself as an astute an original reader of literature and his observations on other writers are fascinating.
This link approach us to some of his thoughts about literature and life.

Montano ('El mal de Montano', Montano's Malady) was the first of his books I read and it was captivating.
Montano's narrator suffers an apparently incurable obsession with literature. This obsession is so strong that it starts to inhibit his ability to write.
The main themes present in the book are death, melancholy, the landscape, travel, literature, the past and of course Kafka.
