Koyasan is a monastic centre founded 12 centuries ago. It is located in a plain at the top of the Mount Koya and gathers numerous temples, santuaries, pagodas...It's a beautiful place to enjoy the nature that surrounds it (cedar forests) and to visit the sanctuaries, temples, the museum...
You can even walk through the huge cementery 'THE OKUNO-IN', a magical place where you can find talismans left by other visitors, enjoy the environment and follow the path until reaching the Kobo Daichi Mausoleum.
Kobo Daichi, buried in the Okuno-in cementary, is considered one of the most important figures in Japanese history. He was a well known philosopher, poet and caligrapher. There are several myths linked to this figure.
He lived between the 8th and the 9th Centuries and was the founder of the Shingon Esoteric Budhism.

Me encanta Japón y he visitado varias veces ese magnifico país. Uno de los lugares más bonitos y sorprendentes que visité fue KOYASAN, en el area de Kansai, no muy lejos de Kyoto y Osaka.
Koyasan es un centro monástico budista que fue fundado hace 12 siglos.
Está situado en una explanada en la cima del monte Koya y acoge multitud de templos, santuarios, pagodas....
Es un lugar hermoso para disfrutar de la naturaleza que lo rodea (bosques de cedros) y para visitar los templos, santuarios, el museo e incluso el enorme cementerio 'Okuno-in', un lugar mágico donde pasear, ver los talismaned dejados por los fieles y un camino a seguir hasta llegar al mausoleo de Kobo Daishi.
Kobo Daishi es considerado uno de los personajes más importantes de la historia de Japón. Fue un reconocido poeta filosófo y caligrafo. Hay muchos mitos vinculados a esta figura. Vivió entre los siglos XVIII i IX y fue el fundador del Budismo Esotérico Shingon.
